Luis B., Branch Manager: Are you into podcasts or do you only listen to music?
I love podcasts - especially comedy-centered ones like Nateland, Soder, or HoneyDew. They all feature stand-up comedians sharing stories from life on the road. I also listen to My Favorite Murder, a comedic true crime podcast, and Pretend Problems, a funny relationship podcast. My rotation of podcasts is always changing, and I love it!

Nadia G., Assistant Branch Manager: What was the best vacation you ever took and why?
I took my son to Disneyland and Legoland for the first time earlier this year. The excitement on his little face was priceless - seeing him so amazed by everything around him and having the time of his life made it my best vacation ever. Those moments created memories that will last forever.

Tezrah D., Member Services Representative: Where’s the next place on your travel bucket list and why?
Japan!!! It’s been on my grandma’s bucket list for years, and I really want to make that happen for her. I’d love to experience it together and create lasting memories with her.

Jared W., Member Services Representative: What’s your favorite dessert topping?
Hot fudge, caramel, and marshmallow - you can’t go wrong with that combo! It’s rich, sweet, and just makes any sundae better. I always go for all three when I’m treating myself to ice cream.

Tanya W., Member Services Representative: What was the last TV show you binge-watched?
The last show I binged was The Equalizer. I love it because she’s always stepping up for others - solving problems and helping people through their pain. It reminds me of myself - always being a protector.

Halloween! I love the decorations, the costumes, the candy - and my daughter got married on Halloween, which makes it even more special.

Demitric H., Member Services Representative: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Meatloaf with a savory-sweet red sauce crust on top, garlic mashed potatoes (a little chunky!) with brown gravy, and shredded cabbage. And of course, homemade cornbread with butter and a honey drizzle. Perfection!

My favorite season is fall because I like the cozy aesthetic and how the weather starts to get cooler.

Members and Employees Ease the Back-to-School Burden 

The back-to-school season can be a stressful time for families, especially with rising school supply costs and tighter household budgets. That’s why CCCU proudly hosted our 7th Annual Back-to-School Supply Drive, rallying support from our employees and members to give back to the community. Thanks to your generosity, we collected a total of 7,064 school supplies - the highest amount ever collected for our back-to-school supply drive! 

CCCU recently dropped off the school supplies to Title 1 schools such as Clyde C. Cox Elementary School, C.T. Sewell Elementary School, Charlotte & Jerry Keller Elementary School and Edythe & Lloyd Katz Elementary School. This community effort will help hundreds of parents and students feel prepared and confident at the start of the school year.

It Pays to Be a Member! 

Fraud Prevention Lessons Every Member Should Know

CCCU recently hosted a seminar for seniors to empower them with the knowledge and tools they need to protect themselves from fraud. The event featured valuable insights from Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Detective Daniel Swanson. If you missed our workshop, here are some tips and takeaways to help protect yourself and loved ones. 

Detective Dan shared that Nevada ranks number one in mail theft and among the top three states for both identity theft and fraud. As scammers are getting more creative, there are ways to protect yourself and your identity: 
Register for USPS’ Informed Delivery. The post office will send you a photo of your mail so you can track letters and packages, and know if it’s been lost or stolen.  
Ignore texts about paying toll road fees – This is one of the most common tricks to get you to pay a fake fee. Nevada has no tolls on public roads and even if you have traveled where there are tolls, they will not text you about payment. 
Shred account statements, receipts, and old credit cards to keep dumpster divers away. Invest in an inexpensive cross-shredder or use the shred bins at any of CCCU’s six locations.
Don’t leave smog check receipts or any receipts in your glove box – they may contain your personal information and you do not need to retain the smog record for your auto registration. 
Don’t leave your auto insurance card in your vehicle – Most insurance providers have digital cards now, so there’s no need to carry a physical copy that could be stolen.
Use tap-to-pay at gas pumps for added protection. Tap to pay offers more security than swiping or inserting your card. Consider going to a different gas station if they do not offer tap to pay. 
When buying gift cards, ask for one from behind the counter – fraudsters are stealing the card details and once you pay and activate it, they use the funds from the card immediately. Ask staff to get you one that has not been displayed already, or better yet, buy a digital gift card directly from the retailer on their website.
