Health Care Costs in Retirement: What to Keep in Mind
Estimating costs and making Medicare coverage decisions are important. Money and health are two big concerns for nearly everyone in or approaching retirement, which makes healthcare planning an important part of your retirement planning in several ways. You need to: - Budget for health care coverage and out-of-pocket costs;
- Coordinate the timing of your switch from an employer’s health care plan to Medicare; and,
- Consider your health and life expectancy when developing a plan to provide financial security over the course of what could be many years of retirement.

Nevada Blind Children’s Foundation, Member since 2020
A commercial member since 2020, Nevada Blind Children’s Foundation has been helping children since 2006. “We opened our doors in 2006, and back then, we were just a small group of parents supporting each other,” said Maribel Garcia, Executive Director of Nevada Blind Children’s Foundation. “Today, we have grown to serve over 80 children a year!” Outside of work, Maribel enjoys volunteering and spending time outdoors. She currently volunteers with Hopelink of Southern Nevada and Helping Hands of Henderson. When she is not volunteering or working, she loves to hike, kayak, and spend a lazy day at the beach with her family. Nevada Blind Children’s Foundation recommends Clark County Credit Union to others and said, “We highly recommend CCCU to other nonprofits and businesses. Not only have they helped us accomplish our financial needs, but they have also helped our students by volunteering and teaching them basic financial skills.” Nevada Blind Children’s Foundation said that what sets the credit union apart from other financial institutions is their commitment to members and said, “CCCU stands out from other financial institutions primarily due to its member-owned cooperative structure. They are committed to the health and well-being of its community and members rather than maximizing shareholder value.” Thank you, Nevada Blind Children’s Foundation, for being a part of the CCCU family!

CCCU's Level Up Event and Community Impact!
Recently, all CCCU employees came together for their annual Level Up event, a day dedicated to both personal and professional growth. This event not only offered opportunities to learn and develop new skills but also reinforced CCCU’s commitment to giving back to the community. Our employees rolled up their sleeves and took part in four different community service projects that made a direct impact on local organizations. American Lung Association CCCU staff helped design custom volunteer shirts and assemble Courage Kits and other outreach items to support the American Lung Association’s mission of fighting lung disease. In addition, CCCU donated $2,500 to support their efforts. Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth Volunteers assembled hygiene kits filled with essentials like shampoo, toothpaste and more, as well as Sunshine Kits with snacks like granola and fruit snacks for homeless youth at NPHY. These small acts will go a long way toward helping vulnerable young people in our community. Lighthouse Charities For Lighthouse Charities’ Rose Creek Farm, CCCU staff worked very hard to help the organization with various garden tasks, helping cultivate fresh produce to support the organization’s mission of assisting refugee families. CCCU also donated $2,500 to support its mission. Three Square Food Bank Our volunteers made a big impact at Three Square Food Bank by packing meals for kids and families, as well as sorting fresh produce for seniors. These efforts helped combat hunger in Southern Nevada and CCCU was proud to donate $2,500 to support their mission to help our community. Employees at CCCU enjoyed a day of learning and giving! CCCU is proud to support these incredible organizations and will continue to fulfill the credit union’s mission of “People Helping People.” For highlights from past events, follow CCCU on Facebook, Instagram and X.
