Member Since 2018: Local Dentist, Dr. Eleazar Santiago

October is Dental Hygiene month - a great time to honor the work your personal dental hygienist and dentist perform to keep your teeth sparkling and healthy. This month we’re spotlighting our business member and local dentist, Dr. Eleazar Santiago!

Eleazar has been practicing as a general dentist in Las Vegas for 14 years. He says he celebrates Dental Hygiene Month by “expressing the importance of dental hygiene as well as teaching the impact it has on our health.” Some advice he would give to someone who fears going to the dentist is to assure them that oral hygiene is a necessity for their health in the long run. Eleazar and his team listen to their patients’ fears or concerns then they discuss the importance of oral hygiene and care.

Outside of work, Eleazar likes to cook and spend quality time with his family. When asked what sets CCCU apart from other financial institutions he responded, “Their great member service and how CCCU continues to accommodate our needs. I also recommend CCCU because they have helpful resources.” He continued, “CCCU has helped my business reach its financial goals and dreams by providing great flexibility and great rates!”

The staff at CCCU has been busy the last few weeks volunteering at several philanthropic and educational events.

Our team gave back during United Way’s 7^th Annual Day of Caring, which is a community-wide volunteer event. We selected a project with Spread the Word Nevada where our CCCU volunteers built over 600 bags with books inside for local elementary students. Also, we chose to support Project Dot where our team members helped assemble over 1,000 feminine hygiene kits that will be distributed to community partners throughout Southern Nevada.

Then, to support the financial wellness of our youth, CCCU volunteered with the Southern Nevada Chapter of the NV CU League to give more than 150 students a Bite of Reality at Ed Clark High School. With a CCCU volunteer facilitating the event, this real-world financial simulation allowed students to create a budget including housing, transportation, food, utilities and other realistic expenses. ​The interactive activity taught the teens how to make financial decisions and gave them a better understanding of the challenges of living on a budget.
