CCCU’s Day of Caring

At CCCU, community is at the heart of everything we do. On September 13, our team of dedicated employees joined United Way’s Annual Day of Caring – the largest volunteer event in Southern Nevada! This special day was marked by acts of service as we volunteered at two incredible organizations: Olive Crest and Future Smiles.

Making a Difference at Olive Crest

Our volunteers at Olive Crest worked diligently on various tasks. The staff worked on assembling emergency food bags, preparing hygiene kits and sanitizing toys. Every contribution helped Olive Crest in their mission to support vulnerable children and families in our community. The energy and enthusiasm our volunteers brought to the day were truly inspiring.

Spreading Smiles with Future Smiles

Meanwhile, another group of volunteers spent the day with Future Smiles – a nonprofit organization that provides vital oral health care to young people in Southern Nevada. The staff assembled oral kits containing toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss that will be distributed to over 50 schools across Southern Nevada. With each bag, our volunteers not only packed dental supplies but also hope and care for thousands of kids.

Social Security: Get the most from your benefits

After paying into Social Security for years, you may be excited to finally start receiving payments at 62. But waiting until 70 could boost your future income so consider your options carefully. Once a decision is made regarding Social Security, it’s difficult to change it.

The Basics

You need 40 “credits” to be eligible to collect Social Security, or about 10 years of working to qualify. Your monthly payment at full retirement age (FRA) depends on your top 35 earning years. The maximum benefit at FRA is $3,822 a month for 2024. The average is $1,907 a month. Use the online tool at ssa.gov/planners/calculators/ to estimate your benefit.
